flight search

Hipmunk has an iPhone app! Woot!

by Scott on February 23, 2011

Ok I hadn’t intended this week to be mostly iPhone apps.

But this one is to cool to pass up Hipmunks new iPhone app!

Now you can take the agony out of searching for flight on your iPhone.  It doesn’t get much easier than this.  The results are very straightforward and  easy to understand.

Currently there is no in app purchasing of flights.  After you select a flight you are given a time sensitive link to complete the transaction on a computer.  I wonder if Apple wants 30% if you purchase through the app (gross speculation on my part, most likely not the case)

Get it app from the app store. Hipmunk should really have a landing page or a “we have an iPhone app” splash thingy (or acorn to stay within the theme) somewhere on their homepage.

There’s a lot to love about the new travel site Hipmonk.com.  It leaves you thinking why didn’t I think of that.  Putting all of the flight results on a time line.  Brilliant.  It’s fast, slight forward, and ridiculously easy to figure out.  One of the best features in my opinion?  Sort by ‘agony’.  Awesome.

Why do I think it’s close to the perfect site and not the best search site ever?  The only thing it really is missing is an area search feature like Kayaks Buzz.  Say you want to go to Europe next spring and are not all that particular where you want to go, it would be cool if you could just type in Europe in the destination link and it would pull the same rankings.  It doesn’t even have to be that broad, a search that could include “this OR that” would be helpful.  CDG OR LHR for example.  If you could enter something like this why would you need to go anywhere else to do your searching/flight bookings?

Seriously, if you haven’t already gone to Hipmonk.com go and check it out!
